The “Cool” Club.

Some things are cool, other’s not so much. I’ve tried to keep my age and experience out of the equation but it’s not easy. When time on Earth has taught you a few things it isn’t easy to overlook the obvious. However, it appears in today’s world there is an effort to promote those things that are cool, hip and trendy. Those items, issues or ideas that are, well – yes, #InconvenientTruths are labeled #fascist, #racist or ” #OldWhiteGuy “.

At one point in my life, for quite a long stretch, I was part of the great unknowing, young hipsters. In fact, I was at the forefront of many cool causes. Yep, I was an #Activist. Until, time and experience caught up with me and I began to see the world and people from a real, historical perspective. Now, I believe, if you study history and the trajectory of humans – especially the Western cultures, one may begin to understand the difficult times we live in and begin to at least understand the difficult decisions our elected leaders must grapple with. The one observation that stand out to me is that today, people tend to look at history through contemporary, 21st century eyes. This will make anyone from a previous period look foolish, backward and often times cruel and destructive. Perhaps keeping in mind what was acceptable in earlier times would not be acceptable now will allow those people their rightful place and unbiased story in the history books.
