There are many film financing “experts” I have encountered in the past 18 months. I have met with them in person, engaged with them on the phone and corresponded with them by both email and snail mail. Many charge hefty fees to help filmmakers raise their production budgets. Fortunately, I have avoided those types and continue to move ahead and build my base of equity investors. Nevertheless, my question is this: If these experts know the secrets of raising money, why aren’t they doing it themselves? Either for their own productions or to lend (with interest) to other producers? Strange.
